Nothing wrong with that, except he's put the thing in speaker-phone mode, which means that everyone can hear both sides of his conversation with a co-worker. And to hear her, he has to turn the volume up high, and he has to be fairly loud when he replies to what she says. The issue they're dealing with doesn't sound terribly confidential, so I guess he figures that makes it okay to be oblivious to the rest of the people in the room.
